Goal Event at Phu Mau Club
On the 15th of May 2018, 200 girls in Phu Mau Secondary school had a joyful day participating in a Goal event with the presence of Ms. Trinh Nhu Quynh, Diplomatic Director and Ms. Le Thi Thuy Dung, Manager for Sustainable Development from Standard Chartered Bank.
Recently, Goal program has been duplicated widely to primary schools over Hue province thanks to the active and effective cooperation of Hue Ministry of Education and Training. FFAV is also launching Goal program to the Southern areas by organizing events in Ho Chi Minh City. With the current number of 744 girls participating in regular Goal training (498 new girls in the first quarter in 2018; 339 in Hue province and 26 in Ho Chi Minh City); two provincial scale events with 336 girls and on capacity building training course early this year, Goal program now has a strong base to develop further in the future.
Standard Chartered’s representatives showed great interest in the event and in FFAV’s activities. Ms.Trinh Nhu Quynh also wanted to widen the scale of the program, from girls’ exclusion to complete inclusion, which means we expand the Goal program to males with the aim of raising the number of beneficiaries, as well as raise awareness about gender equality for both boys and girls. She suggested that we should pay more focus on the economic section.
Goal’s positive impacts on students was clearly shown at the event. Than Dinh Uyen Khanh, a grade 9 student shared: “Thanks to Goal program, my mind has been changed, for the better way. I am always telling myself that I have to be real, be true to who I am and do what makes me happy. Therefore, after graduating secondary school, I will try my best to win a place at Quoc Hoc high school, a school for elite students and follow my dream there. At school, I also usually share my thoughts with friends and give them some advice when they need.” Uyen Khanh’s first participation in Goal program was in the Goal Launching Event in Ho Chi Minh and she has been an active member of Phu Mau club since then.
Goal is a useful program for students, especially when they are in the fastest and strongest phase of developing their awareness of their lives. We hope to see Goal program grow in the future to fulfill its good cause and spread its great values to as many as possible.
