216 football clubs in Thua Thien Hue

As a cooperation of the Football Association of Norway (NFF) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the project started first in Hanoi in 2001. The project moved to Thua Thien Hue in 2003 and this year 2018 marked 15 years of activities on bringing safe and non-competitive football and life-skills playgrounds for children.

FFAV establish football clubs in primary and secondary schools, social centers, resettlement areas, children village SOS, etc. so that anyone who has passion for football can join and play regardless of their age or sex, their backgrounds or football abilities. Grassroots football is not only fun but is also a useful tool to educate children about many more meaningful things in life. The number of football clubs has reached 216 with 1,891 football teams and 19,797 players early this year with below detailed information for each district:

Nam Dong: 15 clubs; Phu Loc: 21 clubs; Phu Vang: 27 clubs; Phong Dien: 20 clubs; Hue City: 23 clubs; Quang Dien 22 clubs; A Luoi: 16 clubs; Huong Thuy: 21 clubs; clubs in social centers and resettlement areas: 18

FFAV is so proud of this great outcome and of the fact that we have built a model of grassroots football structure to be replicated all over Vietnam. Recently, we focus on building the capacity for football club in coaching, leadership, social mobilization so all activities can  be self-implemented and self-financed by the schools and community
