A new safe football pitch for Vietnamese highland children

On July 10th, Nguyen Hoang Phuong, the director of FFAV and Mrs. Thu Huong, the Head of FFAV Programme Department went to Binh Dien primary school in Huong Tra district to have final check – liquidation ceremony for Binh Dien football pitch. There were also representative of Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province, the principle of Binh Dien primary school, contractor, and owner’s representative in this inspection. This new pitch project is very meaningful for students in this mountain area since children here lacked safe playgrounds due to the shortage of economic conditions.

The total costs for this football pitch construction project is 39,415 USD, in which 25,000 USD is contributed by NFF and Norwegian National team and 14, 415 USD is local contribution.

At 9:30 AM, the construction organization and owner’s representative started checking the pitch surface compression ratios under everyone’s observation. The numbers were collected by measuring in 3 different spots to make sure the entire pitch surface was met the standard. The drainage ditch and stands were also checked carefully.

After measuring and practical observing the pitch, all the parties had a meeting to report result of inspection. According to the technical specifications, everyone agreed that the pitch met all the requirements.

Mr. Dang Phuoc My, the vice Director of Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province, said in the meeting: “Safety first for anything that serves for children! We have done a great job with great responsibility. This pitch would benefit for many young generations in this area.”

Mr. Phuong, the director of FFAV also shared and gave out some opinions how to maintain the pitch so it could serve students well as much as possible. Mr. Phuong recommended to expand the stands so more people could sit there. He also expressed his wish to have a fun football festival in or after inauguration of the pitch.

Mrs. Huong, the principle of Binh Dien primary school said in a bright smile: “On behalf of my school, I would like to say thank you for all supports from the local government, FFAV, and especially for Norwegian National team and NFF. Thanks to your helps, my students have a safe and nice place to play football. I promise I’ll try my best to maintain and keep this pitch as nice as it is right now.”

Absolutely, the pitch would enhance physical education and sports movements in this area. It would help students to have a healthy lifestyle and contribute to improve Human Development Index for Vietnam. In addition, as a gift of NFF and Norwegian National Football Team for children here, the pitch is an illustration for the friendly relationship between Norwegian and Vietnamese people. It also shows football can make the world to be a better place.
